Happy New Year everyone! Is it just me or does it feel as if 2012 flew by!? I must say that 2012 was one of the best years for me. New friends, graduation, birthdays, and so much more. It may even be safe to call the best year ever. With the new year, I'm given the opportunity to only make this year better than last year, right? I'm super excited to see what this year has in store for me. I've set many goals for myself especially since I've graduated. As with everyone around this time of year. One of my biggest goals is to become more fit and healthy. I might as well jump on the bandwagon...New year, new beginnings huh?
I'll be keeping this blog to document my progress, random happenings, and to also share with you all techniques I've used to get to what I want to become by the end of this year. Though I'll be working on improving every part of my body inside and out, my primary focus will be long distance running and core strength. I naturally have an athletic build but other than dance in high school, and the occasional gym time, I've never really been that active. To be frank, my metabolism has kept me the size I am. I want to work on my body, whip it into shape, and for once, see my abs. I know they're in there somewhere. :)
I hope that you will join me on my journey and read my other pages about my other goals and ambitions and join me there also. 2013 will be the year of improvement. I'm determined.

It was my first day running
It was my first day running since early last semester. Yeah, I'd like to tell myself that I've been THAT busy when in actuallity, I've just been THAT lazy. I must admit, I've had a hectic year trying to cram in every senior level class I can find for my last year and a half of college. It ain't easy. But enough about school. Today, I was talking to my parents. They were just coming from the gym. Before I left their house for winter break, I and my sister told my dad that every pound he lost, we'd lose. I've never felt like swallowing my words more now than ever. In attempts to encourage him to get in shape, he took our words to heart and has really been doing well! He called me today and told me he's lost 8 pounds since Janurary! While, I will NOT be losing 8 pounds at least for the next month or so, I will be working on my fitness and nutrition. I did lunges, high steps, backwards running and butt kicks (each for 1/4) of a block. Then I ran. I didn't make it around the full block and felt like I was going to pass out, but something is more than nothing right? I guess if I want to begin my journey to a healthy life, the girls scout cookies and chips and dip have got to go. It's been nice knowing you on a daily basis.

UPDATE
This has possibly been the most hectic/stressful semester I've had since I've been in college. I haven't had much time to myself. I'm actually tempted to go into total seclusion come the last day of my exams haha. Anywho... I'm not one for New Year's Resolutions; however, I think I'm going to go out on a whim and actually make one this year. Well two for that matter. The first is to eat healthy, I'll save that spiel for that blog. The second pertains to this blog. Instead of saying that I want to become fit, I'm actually going to do it. Everyone I tell this to tells me that I don't need to because of my somewhat small stature. I believe (and know) that fit and small are two different things. Both would be nice of course. I will be updating regularly on my successes and failures regularly come January 1st 2012. I love to hear advice, input, inspiration from everyone else reading this! I'm ready to give it my ALL!

30 x 30 workout
Hello everyone!
This workout is sure to get your heart pumping. I know mine got a wake-up call today!
Be sure to warm up and warm down before and after doing any workout. Also, do not push yourself to the point of injury.
30 Jumping Jacks (cardio)
30 Lunges on each side (butt, legs)
30 Jumping Jacks
30 Squats (butt)
30 Jumping Jacks
30 High Jumps (butt, upper/lower leg, cardio)
30 Push-ups (arms, chest)
30 Crunches (abs) hold a 30 second bridge after this
30 second Plank (abs, arms, endurance)
Good Luck and once again, do not push yourself to the point of injury! This worked me I hope it will help you too!
